The North American Mixing Forum of the American
Institute of Chemical Engineers
Purpose
To encourage new faculty to begin research careers in areas that
will impact the general field of fluid mixing technology.
Eligibility
Any untenured but tenure-track faculty member at a Ph.D. granting
institution in North America.
Funding:
A single $24,000 grant will
be offered, beginning January 1, 2008, in two annual installments of
$12,000. The recipient will be announced at the November 2007 AIChE
meeting in Salt Lake City. The use of grant funds is restricted to direct
research expenditures and excludes overhead, administrative charges,
secretarial support, academic year charge-out, university-wide taxes
on gifts and the like. The recipient is
expected to attend the Biennial Conference of the North American
Mixing Forum, Summer 2010, to
present initial results, and the Biennial Conference, Summer 2011,
to present final results. Conference fees but not travel expenses
will be waived.

The deadline for receipt of proposals is May 1, 2007.
The format of the application is open. Enough information should be
given to enable a rigorous evaluation of the scientific merits and
potential impact of the work. The text should be limited to ten
pages (12 point @ 1.5 spaces) including summary, introduction,
proposed work, figures, future directions and references. A title page, one page
budget, a statement by an appropriate officer of the institute
accepting the restrictions on the grant, and a two page vitae are additional. The decision
of the referees will be final. NAMF reserves the right not to award
the grant if no application is judged sufficiently meritorious.
